The Stinger fastback sedan was shortlisted for the award in 2018.\n\nEmilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Motors Europe, commented: \u201cThe Ceed has been on-sale in Europe for more than a decade, and it continues to underpin Kia\u2019s growth across the continent. The new generation has been designed and engineered exclusively for European buyers, and, like its predecessors, continues to be built in Slovakia. This is a European car in every sense, and growing numbers of buyers are drawn to its unrivalled combination of high quality, beautiful design, and advanced technologies.\u201d\n\nMore than 1.3 million Ceed models have been built at Kia\u2019s manufacturing facility in \u017dilina, Slovakia since its introduction in 2006. The new model family is currently made up of a five-door hatchback and the Ceed Sportswagon.\n\nThe Ceed range will expand in the first quarter of 2019 with the arrival of the new Ceed GT performance hatchback, as well as the new Kia ProCeed \u2013 a five-door shooting brake merging stunning design with the space and versatility of a tourer. The third-generation ProCeed made its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, and has recently entered production in Slovakia. The sportiest iteration of the Ceed family, the new third-generation ProCeed will be available exclusively as a GT Line or high-performance GT model.\n\nThe new Kia Ceed range has been designed at the brand\u2019s European design centre in Frankfurt, Germany, under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, European Head of Design, and Peter Schreyer, President of Design and Chief Design Officer. Carrying over the sporty, emotional design character of the Stinger, the new Ceed conveys a more self-confident new look \u2013 one that is both emotive and precise in its execution.\n\nLower, wider, and with a longer rear overhang than the car it replaces, the new Ceed\u2019s cab-rearward silhouette exhibits a more mature sense of athleticism. Straight lines replace the rounded-off edges of its predecessor, evolving the front of the car with a wider \u2018tiger-nose\u2019 grille and lower air intake, and precise, linear shapes framing its \u2018face\u2019. The new model features \u2018ice cube\u2019 LED daytime running lights as standard, echoing the appearance of earlier Kia GT and GT Line models. In profile, the sharp, straight lines visually lengthen the bonnet and give the car a more upright stance. A greater sense of maturity and strength is created in its shoulder line, which now runs along a more horizontal plane. The new model adopts the wide C-pillar that has become a hallmark of Kia design in recent years, enhancing its cab-rearward stance. This also gives the upper window-line a sleek new \u2018half-moon\u2019 shape. At the rear, new LED daytime running lights give the Ceed greater visibility \u2013 and recognition \u2013 on the road.\n\nConstructed on Kia\u2019s new \u2018K2\u2019 platform, the new Ceed five-door hatchback is 20mm wider (1,800mm) and 23mm lower (1,447mm) than the outgoing model. Its wheelbase remains the same at 2,650mm, with the front overhang shortened by 20mm (to 880mm), and rear overhang extended by 20mm (now 780mm).
